Question: How do Termicap capsules work?
Answer: BY TARGETING THE NEST. Termicap capsules are placed in the ground around the home and out buildings. The capsules contain timber, cellulose and a protein substance, so when you pour a glass of water down inside the capsule you create a preferred environment for termites ( white ants ), a dark humid chamber with a good food source.
When the termite scouts are foraging for food and come across the Termicap capsules they vibrate a message back to the nest. Soon a large number of working termites will be in the capsule taking the food source back to the nest. It can hold thousands of foraging termites at one time.
Question: How often do I have to check the Termicap capsules?
Answer: We suggest you check the monitoring rod once a month for termite activity. There is enough food in the capsule to last foraging termites for approximately six to eight weeks.
Question: What do I do after I notice termite activity on the monitoring rod?
Answer: Call Termicap 1800 618 821. We will arrange a licensed Pest Management team to come and insert the termiticide into the capsule.
We will also arrange your new refill kit.
Question: Does the termiticide just kill the termites inside the capsule?
Answer: No, termites are constantly grooming each other and should carry the termiticide back to the nest with the potential of killing the queen thus eradicating the nest.
Question: Does the Termicap capsule attract termites to your home?
Answer: No they do not attract termites to your home.
Question: How close can you put the capsules to the house?
Answer: At least a meter or more away from the building, unless you have a garden bed next to the home and termite activity is noticed then put one in that spot.
Question: Is the Termicap capsule lid safe after the termiticide is inserted?
Answer: Yes each kit comes with lock ties, which is fitted through lugs with warning label showing. (See slide show)
Question: How long does the capsule stay locked up in the ground before replacing the inserts?
Answer: Four to six weeks, this will give enough time for the termites to carry the termiticide back to their nest.
Question: How long do the inserts last within the capsules buried in the ground?
Answer: This will depend on your soil type and moisture level. In most cases the inserts should last approximately two to three years.
Question: How successful are they?
Answer: Termicap Pty Ltd has been trading since July 2006 and in that short period of time the success rate of termite attacks in the capsules is quite phenomenal to say the least, a lot of time and research has gone into perfecting this product.
